sharad poornima(porattasi) , is considered very important. in fact right from amavasai to this poornima , all the days are auspicious. from amavasai we celebrate navratri. just after 4 days this poornima comes when we worship MOON. this day it is very close to earth and in its full form of all the sixteen qualities( solah kala). this day lord krishna did RASLILA in vrindavan . people sing songs on lord krishna and dance.
night kheer is prepared and offered to moon. here people keep it outside throughout the night and they have it next day as prasadam. it is said it is equivalent to nector .it is very good for eyes.ladies pray to lord shankar and karthikey to fulfill their wishes and for the welfare of the children. evening they worship lord vishnu and laxmi.it is celebrated as valmiki jayanthi also
